Touch Rugby
Congratulations to the following learners on their selection to the Western Province Touch Rugby Squads. They will now begin preparations for the Junior Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT), where Western Province will look to defend their respective titles.

Netball
Congratulations to Eliora Kanku (Grade 12) on her selection to the U/18 CTHSN Western Cape Team, and to Lindsay Koert (Grade 8) for her selection to the U/14 CTHSN Western Cape Team 2026.
This is a significant milestone in their netball careers. Both players recently competed in the Western Cape Schools inter-district Netball Tournament, held from 16 to 18 July at Bredasdorp High School. In a thrilling tournament, both Western Cape teams reached the semi-finals, with our U/14 Oaks team ultimately winning the overall tournament in the U/14 section. Well done to Eliora and Lindsay on these excellent achievements.
Hockey
Rustenburg had a large number of learners participating in various hockey tournaments in the July holidays. All tournaments went really well and the Rustenburg flag was well represented.
The U18 and U6 IPT took place in Pietermaritzburg. Coach Gary Stevens was involved as Head Coach for the U18B team boys who competed very well, missing out narrowly on a semi-final before finishing fifth in the A-section. Kate Naiker (Grade 12) and Kezia George (Grade 11) played for WP U18B Girls who also competed well in the A-section finishing a very well-deserved ninth. Danica Muller (Grade 12) played in the U18A team who went on to win Gold in the A-section with a very good display. In the U16 Tournament Amy Penney, Ella Gardner, Agcobile Kota, Zoe-Jane Cole (Grade 10s) and Leah Johnson (Grade 9) all played for the U16A team who finished a strong sixth place. The U16B team finished third in the B section having won 6 out of 7 games, coached by coach Darren Davies. The team also had Georgia Parr (Grade 10), Salma Martin (Grade 9) and Zanne Marcus (Grade 10) representing Rustenburg.
Further representations in regional tournaments were Tara Neville-Smyly (Grade 12) and Haadiya Abdulla (Grade 11) were in the U18 South team who won the Regional Tournament. Sofiyah Abdullah, Sadie Scheppel and Isabella de Freitas (Grade 8s) were all in the U14 South team who won bronze at their Regional Tournament.
A very big congratulations to Zoe-Jane Cole who was selected for the South African U16B team who will play in a series in Zimbabwe later this year.
Non-School Sport
Rustenburg Girls’ High School is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Nikita Rushby (Grade 8), who has been selected to represent South Africa at the upcoming World Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Championships in Beijing, China.
Nikita secured her place on the national team after delivering an exceptional performance at the OCR National Championships held in Johannesburg over the weekend, where she was crowned Junior National Champion by finishing 1st in the Junior Division.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to Nikita’s dedication, resilience, and commitment to excellence. Earning the opportunity to represent South Africa on the international stage is an incredible honour, and we have no doubt that she will wear the green and gold with pride.

Rugby
During the school holidays, Aasiya Sonday (Grade 12) attended a prestigious two-week High-Performance Girls’ Rugby Camp at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport.
The camp brought together talented young rugby players from around the world, providing an opportunity to develop their skills in a high-performance environment. As part of the programme, participants were coached by some of South Africa’s top rugby players, including Springbok Women players Nadine Roos and Liske Lategan, as well as Blitzbok player Dewald Human.
The experience exposed learners to world-class coaching, advanced training methods, and the values of teamwork, discipline, and excellence. We are proud that our learners continue to embrace opportunities that support their growth both on and off the field.

Dance
Congratulations to Olivia Rogers (Grade 8) on another outstanding achievement in the performing arts.
At the end of last term, Olivia participated in the Talent Africa Regional Competition, where she delivered an exceptional performance and successfully qualified for the Talent Africa National Championships, which will take place during the October school holidays.
This marks another significant milestone in Olivia’s journey, having previously earned her International Colours through Talent Africa last year—an honour that reflects her exceptional talent, dedication, and commitment to her craft.
We are incredibly proud of Olivia’s continued success and wish her every confidence and success as she prepares to compete at the national championships.
