Squash

Huge congratulations to Genevieve Lang (Grade 9) on securing 5th place in the 2026 Junior National Squash Rankings!
Finishing among the top 10 junior squash players in South Africa is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to Genevieve’s hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport.
We are incredibly proud of Genevieve for representing herself and RGHS with such distinction. We wish her continued success as she strives for even greater heights in her squash journey.

Cross Country
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Ella Gardner (Grade 10), who has had a remarkable Cross Country season.
After earning Western Province colours for Cross Country, Ella was selected to represent the Western Cape at the South African Schools Cross Country National Championships in Midrand on 3 October 2026. Competing against the country’s top school Cross Country athletes, Ella produced an exceptional performance, finishing 8th nationally in her event.
Reaching the national championships is a tremendous achievement in itself, particularly in an individual sport such as Cross Country, where success requires immense commitment, discipline, resilience and personal drive. Finishing inside the top 10 in South Africa is an achievement of which Ella and the entire RGHS community can be extremely proud.
Congratulations, Ella! Your dedication and determination are an inspiration, and we look forward to seeing where your Cross Country journey takes you next.

Hockey
We are incredibly proud of Alayla Jonker (Grade 10), who recently returned from representing Rustenburg on the prestigious Belgotex Sport Invitational Netherlands Hockey Tour during the September holidays.
Departing from Cape Town for an unforgettable nine-day tour (26 September – 4 October 2026), she earned the incredible opportunity to compete on the field in one of the world’s top hockey nations. Being chosen for this tour—organised by Aspire Sport Travel and FieldhockeyTravel—is a monumental achievement that highlights Alayla’s exceptional talent, hard work, and dedication. The tour offered an action-packed mix of high-level competition and elite player development.
Alayla began her experience watching professional Dutch Hoofdklasse matches and celebrating her team selection at an official Capping Ceremony. She then participated in specialised training clinics led by expert local Dutch coaches at renowned clubs HDM and AMVJ, before giving it her all in challenging matches against top local sides, including Hockey Club Dordrecht, Zoetermeer, Almere, Rood Wit, and Hurley. Off the pitch, Alayla and her teammates built lifelong memories exploring the rich culture of the Netherlands. Highlights included sightseeing in The Hague, a fun-filled day at Efteling Theme Park, and an iconic canal cruise through Amsterdam. Selection for an international tour of this calibre is a well-deserved reward for all her effort and passion for the game. Congratulations, Alayla—you have made our entire school community proud!




Rhythmic Gymnastics
Huge congratulations to Laura MacGregor and Isabella Ciolli (Grade 8s) on their outstanding performance at the South African Gymnastics National Championships during the school holidays!
Competing in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Level 8 U15 category, Laura delivered a remarkable performance, bringing home an impressive three gold medals and one silver medal!
Her fantastic results included:
- 🥇 Gold – Overall Champion
- 🥇 Gold – Hoop Routine
- 🥇 Gold – Ball Routine
- 🥈 Silver – Dance Routine
Isabella retained her title as a SA National Champion this year, coming joint first overall and winning gold for level 6 U14. She also won gold for her ribbon routine and a silver medal for her rope routine.
These are incredible achievements and a true reflection of dedication, hard work and talent.
We are exceptionally proud of both Laura and Isabella for their outstanding success on the national stage and wish them continued success in their gymnastics journey.


Dance
A huge congratulations to Hannah October (Grade 12) and her dance partner on their fantastic achievement at the SADTA (South African Dance Teachers Association) competition, held in Somerset West this past weekend!
The talented duo delivered an outstanding performance, securing 1st place in the Youth Latin section! This wonderful achievement is a testament to their hard work, dedication and passion for dance.
We are incredibly proud of Hannah and Jayden and wish them continued success as they dance their way to even greater heights!

Climbing
We are thrilled to celebrate an extraordinary achievement by Camille Myer (Grade 9), who has been crowned South African National Champion in Lead Climbing!
Competing at the South African Climbing National Championships during the school holidays, Camille delivered an exceptional performance, securing 1st place nationally in the Women’s Lead Climbing event in her age category!
This remarkable achievement will see Camille receive her prestigious Protea Colours, a tremendous honour in South African sport. She is also set to take her talent to the international stage as she prepares to compete at the Youth World Championships in 2027!
Camille’s success is a true testament to her dedication, perseverance and countless hours of hard work. Her achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the entire RGHS sporting community.
