Water Polo
Mackenzie Cup 2026
Pre-season is officially underway, and we are exceptionally proud of our U19 Water Polo Team following their participation in the Mackenzie Cup this past weekend at Reddam House Constantia.
Competing amongst some of the top Water Polo schools, this was a fantastic opportunity for our girls to test themselves against strong opposition and get the season underway.
The team finished 12th out of 16 teams, gaining valuable experience and setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
A special highlight was our goalkeeper Chloe Wood, who was absolutely unstoppable between the posts! Chloe produced an incredible display, blocking chance after chance from Rhenish and making them work extremely hard for every goal. It was a closely contested match right until the final whistle!
Well done, girls! Your commitment, determination and fighting spirit are something to be proud of.

Swimming
Swimming Team trials:
We will be hosting swimming team trials on Tuesday, 6 October from 15:15 to 16:30 in the RGHS Swimming Pool. Please feel free to come and try out if you would like to be a part of the team!

Cross Country
We are incredibly proud of Ella Gardner, who was selected to represent the Cape Metro Team at the Western Province Championship in Riversdale this past weekend.
And what an achievement it was!
Ella produced an astounding performance, placing 6th overall in an incredibly fast and competitive race — crossing the finish line in an absolutely INSANE time of 14:43!
Her incredible result has now seen her qualify for the SA National Championship, where she will proudly represent the Western Cape later this year in Midrand.
Ella, your dedication, determination and hard work are truly paying off, and we couldn’t be prouder of you. We wish you all the very best as you prepare to take on the best at Nationals — go out there and shine!
Open Water Swimming
Caitlin Evans Represents South Africa on the International Stage
Caitlin Evans (Grade 10) recently travelled to Santa Fe, Argentina, where she proudly represented South Africa at the World Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships.
Competing against some of the top junior open water swimmers from around the world, Caitlin delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 20th in the 7.5km individual event.
She also represented South Africa in the 4 × 1500m Mixed Relay, where the team achieved an impressive 8th-place finish overall.
Caitlin can be incredibly proud of her achievement in representing her country at such a prestigious international event. Competing on the world stage has provided her with valuable experience and an opportunity to test herself against some of the best junior open water swimmers in the world.
We congratulate Caitlin on this remarkable achievement and wish her all the very best for her next challenge as she competes at the SA Short Course Swimming Competition in Pietermaritzburg from 24–27 September.

Modern Pentathlon
Nikita Rushby (Grade 8) represented South Africa at an international competition in Beijing, China, where athletes from nearly 50 countries participated across the various age categories.
Nikita’s main event was the 3 km Solo in the Under-15 category, despite being only 13 years old. She produced an outstanding performance, finishing 4th overall, behind athletes representing Russia, Poland and Australia.
She also competed in the highly technical 400 m Solo event, finishing an impressive 9th overall in the Under-15 category.
Nikita was also selected to join two other South African athletes in the No-Age 3 km Team Event. The team is believed to have finished within the top 10, with official results still to be confirmed.
One of the highlights of the trip came when the Philippines national team invited Nikita to join their junior 4 × 100 m relay team. Due to an age eligibility issue involving one of their athletes, the team was required to substitute a senior athlete and compete in the Over-19 division. Despite this challenge, the team produced an excellent performance, finishing 6th in the senior division.
It was an incredible experience for Nikita, both competitively and personally, giving her the opportunity to compete alongside athletes from around the world and proudly represent South Africa on the international stage.
Congratulations, Nikita! We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing what you achieve next!
Rowing
We are delighted to share that Lana de Klerk (Grade 11) was recently invited to appear on the Expresso Show, alongside three fellow PGRC rowers and representatives from their partner club, UWC Rowing Club.
During the segment, Lana gave a fantastic demonstration of how to use an indoor rowing (erg) machine correctly.
Well done, Lana, on this wonderful opportunity and for representing so confidently!
Rowing Open Day
The Annual Rowing Open Day will take place this Sunday, 20 September at Zeekoevlei.
Learners who are interested in rowing or would like to find out more about the sport are encouraged to attend.
