Biathle

Skye Micklethwaite (Grade 12) was formally awarded her Protea Junior Colours for Biathle at the South African Modern Pentathlon Championships gala event on Sunday, 7 April. Being one of only two athletes in the country to receive this prestigious award, approved by SASCOC (the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee), speaks volumes about Skye’s talent and dedication to her sport. In addition to receiving her Protea blazer (shown in the photo below), Skye was assigned a “Protea number” – a unique identifier given to our country’s national representatives (alongside the likes of our Springbok rugby world champions!) as a way to honour and commemorate an athlete’s dedication and excellence in representing the country at the highest level of competition.  This number remains with the awarded athlete throughout their sporting career and serves as a recognition of their achievement and contribution to South African sport. This award is a testament to her hard work, commitment, and excellence in representing South Africa at the highest level of competition. Skye’s achievements not only bring pride to Rustenburg Girls High School but also serve as inspiration for aspiring athletes everywhere.

Here’s to Skye’s continued success and contributions to South African sport!
