Tennis

Our tennis teams entered another week of the High School Tennis league fixtures. Despite tough competitors, the tennis team showed consistency and demonstrated their resilience on court. It has been good to see their fighting spirit and teamwork. They have demonstrated that they are ambassadors of the school, whether they are winning or losing, they show respect and kindness to their opponents. We are very proud of you. Keep up the good work.

Indoor Hockey

We’re getting closer to the end of the season, and as we draw nearer, you almost wish it wouldn’t end. The past week saw a Rustenburg derby, some pulsating games against Wynberg, a nail-biter against Bergvliet and a goal feast against Fairbairn.

We go into the next week with a visit to Durbanville to take on the “Green Machine” at Fairmont High School.

PGSGU Indoor Hockey is on 11 March at Herschel. Be sure to come and support our First Team, as they hope to defend their title.

Water Polo

Old Petrians Tournament 22 – 25 February

The Rustenburg Girls’ First Water Polo Team, travelled to Johannesburg on the 22 February to compete in the 19th Annual Old Petrians Water Polo Tournament, hosted by St. Peter’s College. The tournament hosted 3 sports, mainly Water Polo, Basketball and Cricket where some of the top schools competed for the top honours in their respective sports. Rustenburg, going into the tournament as underdogs, looked to make an impression, however, fell short of the goal for the tournament, and only managed to finish in 18th place overall, an improvement from last year’s 23rd position. The team maintained their brilliant status as the most well-respected team and incredible ambassadors of the school. The tournament is highly competitive, with the best teams in the country all contesting to be the best. Our young team had a tough experience having played against some top opposition; they left everything out there in the pool and put every effort in to make the most of the experience. Well done to all our learners for what they have achieved in this tournament, and for the amount of character and tenacity shown with each game. We are very proud of you!
