Outdoor Hockey

The 2023 Outdoor Hockey season has gotten off to a flying start for our teams. Our U14A, U16A and U19A teams have been very busy with preparations for the upcoming season.

Our pre-season campaigns kicked off with our U14 hockey team taking part in the Rhenish Quest for the Best Festival on 10 and 11 March. With minimal preparation, this was always going to be a tough assignment, but our team performed admirably against some tough opposition.

The U16A and U19A teams were invited to join the Spar Festival hosted in the Northern Suburbs as the first part of their preparation for the 2023 season. The U16 event, held on Saturday 11 March gave us the first opportunity to have a look at our new-look, young U16A team, and we were pleasantly surprised. The U19 event took place on 12 March, and gave an opportunity to some new first team players to showcase their ability at U19A level.

During the holidays, the U19A team took part in the Fairmont Easter Tournament. The tournament took place from 4-8 April, and featured 32 teams from across South Africa and Namibia. The U19A team performed admirably and were unfortunate to lose out in the semi finals in a shootout against Woodridge Girls. This tournament saw some of the senior members coming back into the team, and a few juniors being given an opportunity to be exposed to tournament hockey.

The team finished in third place, walking away with the bronze medal.
