Earth Children Movie and Thrift Night

On the evening of 16 March, the RGHS Earth Children hosted their Movie and Thrift Night. It was an incredible evening filled with laughter and friendship where I, even in my biassed opinion, believed
everyone had a fun and amazing time.

A mini-thrift shop was set up at the back of the Thomson Hall filled to the brim with second
hand clothes generously donated by learners and their families. Learners wandered around picking out and trying on these glorious garments which they purchased for an absolute bargain of R5 an item.

Thrifting is a fantastic way for the fashion and eco-conscious to have the best of two worlds and
it was wonderful to see so many Rustenburg learners and staff embrace thrifting so
whole-heartedly.

There was a tuckshop with delicious baked goods, popcorn, pizza and cool drinks on sale which learners could enjoy while watching the movie, Crazy Rich Asians.

The overarching aim of the event was to raise money for Wildtrust, a non-profit, non-government, and public welfare organisation focusing on conserving and protecting terrestrial and marine biodiversity, advocating for healthy oceans and marine protected areas as well as empowering and uplifting communities through training. Earth Children are very proud to announce that we have raised over R7 000 for Wildtrust through the Movie and Thrift Night!

Well done Earth Children and well done RGHS! Thank you so much to everyone who organised, participated in, and donated towards the event. All your hard work, participation, and generosity have made raising this amazing amount of money possible!
