Tennis
Our Tennis Team delivered an outstanding performance this week as they competed for 1st/2nd position in the Super League against St Cyprian’s School.
In what can only be described as a thrilling and closely contested encounter, the match ended in a 3–3 draw. Every couple fought with determination, composure, and incredible team spirit, showcasing the depth of talent and resilience within our squad.
The outcome was decided by the narrowest of margins — we lost by just one point in the doubles match. While the result may not have gone our way, the performance was nothing short of exceptional. To push a top side to the very end and fall short by a single point speaks volumes about the character, commitment, and competitive edge of our players.
This match was a true reflection of what school sport is about: courage under pressure, unity as a team, and pride in representing our school with excellence.
We are immensely proud of the team for earning their place in the 1st/2nd playoff and for the fighting spirit they displayed throughout the season. The future of our tennis programme is incredibly bright.
Encouragingly, teams 2-6 have represented the school with pride, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and teamwork both on and off the court. Their commitment to training and willingness to challenge themselves early in the season has contributed positively to their overall growth and performance.
We congratulate all our Tennis players on their hard work and determination thus far and look forward to their continued development as the league unfolds.

Being selected to compete at a national championship is a remarkable achievement and a testament to Lana’s dedication, discipline, and commitment to her sport.

Non-School Sport: Xterra Triathlon
Three Rustybugs took on the challenging XTERRA South Africa event on 1 March in extremely tough weather conditions. Heavy rain the night before nearly led to the event being cancelled, and both the mountain bike and trail run routes had to be adjusted for safety. To add to the drama, it even hailed during the event!
Despite the conditions, our athletes showed remarkable grit and determination:
- Tamryn van Aswegen (Grade 10) competed in the Youth B (16/17) Triathlon — 500m swim, 11km mountain bike, and 6km trail run.
- Katelyn Meiring (Grade 9) competed in the Youth A (14/15) Triathlon — 250m swim, 7km mountain bike, and 2.5km trail run.
- Julia Walker (Grade 10) competed in the 6km trail run.
A special congratulations to Tamryn van Aswegen and Katelyn Meiring, who both placed in the Top 5 in their age groups, earning qualification slots for the World XTERRA Youth Championships in Ruidoso, New Mexico!
We are incredibly proud of our learners for their resilience, courage, and outstanding achievements.
