Squash

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Genevieve Lang (Grade 8), who recently secured a Bronze medal in the U15 division at the SA Nationals, representing Western Province. The tournament was held from 28-30 August 2025, on an all-glass court at Makers Landing, V&A Waterfront.

In a thrilling 2/3 play-off match on Saturday, Genevieve narrowly missed out on second place, losing 10-12 in the fifth set after holding two match balls. Her determination, composure and skill throughout the match were commendable and reflected the hard work she has put into her game.

Earlier this month, Genevieve also received her official SA Schools Ranking for 2025 in the U14 division and is currently ranked No. 2 in the country – a phenomenal achievement.

Congratulations to Genevieve on her continued success and for proudly representing Rustenburg on the national stage.

PGSGU Tournament

The curtain closed on another busy hockey season. 2025 was wrapped up traditionally, with the PGSGU hockey tournaments for the U14A, U16A and U19A teams. Our teams went into the tournament with great excitement, having competed well against the rival girls’ schools during our league campaign.

The U14s were first up on Friday night at St Cyprian’s, and while massacred by injury and illness, gave a very good account of themselves, finishing the tournament undefeated, without conceding a goal, in second place.

Attention turned to the U16A and U19A teams on Saturday morning, with the U19s going into the tournament as defending champions and a big target on their backs. Scoring goals would prove to be the team’s Achilles heel in a format where the team that scores early usually ends up on the right side of the result.

A huge congratulations must go to the matrics who played their last games for Rustenburg. In their time playing for the U19A team, the quartet amassed a total of 661 caps between them. Your contribution to RGHS hockey is invaluable, and your experience will be missed.
