On Monday, 27 May, our U19A and U19B teams went to Groote Schuur High School for some friendly netball matches. It was a nice change from studying, and everyone had a blast. Although our teams were a bit out of practice since exams began, they quickly got back into the groove and played impressively. These matches also gave our coach a chance to try out different player combinations and tactics.

The High School Football League continues and both RGHS teams are putting up strong performances, even against tough opponents. While it’s unfortunate that the second team’s opponents could not fulfil the fixture on 22 May, their display of tenacity and perseverance during practice sessions is commendable. It’s moments like these that demonstrate the true character and resilience of the team, and it’s clear that they’re giving their all at all times.

Sailing

Congratulations to Isabella Keytel (Grade 12) who has been selected to represent South Africa at the Youth Sailing World Championships, which will take place at Lake Garda in Italy from 13-20 July 2024. Sailing in the All-Female ILCA 6 class, Isabella’s talent and dedication have also earned her a spot in the prestigious World Sailing Emerging Nations Programme. The ENP programme aims to help close the performance gap between emerging and developed sailing nations and promote worldwide competition.

She will attend a five-day training camp before the actual Youth Championship event as well as being supported by world-class coaching during the event, to provide on-the-water support and guidance for sailors in the event. Her performance puts her in line to potentially be awarded Junior Protea Colors, which is another outstanding achievement.

Well done Isabella, we are proud of you!
