Swimming
On Thursday, 16 October, our dedicated swimmers braved the challenging conditions at the first swimming gala of the season held in Fish Hoek. Despite facing arguably one of the coldest galas in recent memory, with fierce gale-force winds sweeping into the Deep South and the sun offering little warmth beyond a mere ornament, our swimmers showed remarkable resilience. Some competitors even turned orange and blue from the cold, yet their spirit and determination never wavered.
Against these tough conditions, our team emerged triumphant, securing a remarkable total of 231 points to claim victory at the gala.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the swimmers who placed first in their respective strokes.

Water Polo
PGSGU Water Polo Tournament
On Tuesday, 21 October, our U16 and U19 Water Polo teams took part in the PGSGU Water Polo Tournament, proudly hosted by Herschel Girls’ School. It was a beautiful day – ideal for water polo – and provided an excellent opportunity for our teams to test their skills and measure themselves against other top Peninsula Girls’ schools.
The tournament format followed a fast-paced structure with 2×8-minute chukkas (running time) played in a half-pool setup. This encouraged dynamic and high-energy matches throughout the afternoon.
Both the U16 and U19 teams represented Rustenburg Girls with determination and sportsmanship. Each team secured a hard-fought win against Wynberg Girls’ High School and ultimately placed 4th in their respective age groups. We extend our congratulations to both teams for their commendable performances and for flying the Rustenburg flag high with pride.

Western Province Schools Water Polo
On Wednesday, 22 October, Western Province Schools’ Water Polo (WPSWP) hosted a capping ceremony at Rondebosch Boys’ High School. The event marked the induction of players into the WPSWP teams that will represent the province at the SA Schools’ Inter-Provincial Tournament, to be held in Johannesburg from 6–10 December 2025.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the following water polo players on this outstanding achievement:

Touch Rugby
Junior Interprovincial Touch Rugby Tournament
Written by: Amelie Visser, Imaan Chothia, Sibongisipho Kula, Emily Engelbrecht and Olivia Abrahams
During the Term 3 holidays, we had the incredible opportunity to represent our province in Touch Rugby at the Junior Interprovincial Tournament, held at Kings Park in Durban. We are, and continue to be, extremely grateful for this experience.
The tournament was truly one-of-a-kind—filled with excitement, growth, and unforgettable moments. Over the course of three days, all the participating teams gave their absolute best, competing against tough opponents. These challenging matches pushed us to grow as players and helped sharpen our skills.
Off the field, we had the chance to enjoy Durban’s beautiful scenery, which brought our teams even closer together and created space for us to make lasting memories. Spending time with teammates and friends, while playing and watching the sport we love, made the experience all the more special.
Throughout the tournament, we learned so much—about the game, about resilience, and about the power of teamwork. Most importantly, we built incredible friendships and created memories that will last a lifetime.
Representing our province was a true privilege, and we cannot wait for the next opportunity to do it all over again!

Indoor Hockey
Congratulations to Alayla Jonker (Grade 9) and Madison Staub (Grade 9), who represented Rustenburg with pride at the Prestige Champions Cup Indoor Hockey Tournament, held from 10–12 October at La Rochelle High School, Paarl.
Both learners competed up an age group in the Under-17 section, demonstrating exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Alayla Jonker was a key player for the Dragons team, helping them secure the Tournament Champions title. At the same time, Madison Staub contributed significantly to the Otters team, who narrowly missed the top spot in a closely contested final.
Their dedication, resilience, and teamwork have made Rustenburg proud, and we celebrate their outstanding achievements on and off the field.
Well done, Alayla and Madison!
