Term 3 Sports
All sports practices for Term 3 are scheduled to resume on 22 July. Please refer to the attached Term 3 Sports Programme for more details.
Squash
The Western Province Open took place from 17-22 June. Tara-Neville Smyly, who entered the tournament as the 7th seed, delivered an outstanding performance by winning all her matches, ultimately securing victory in the final with a 3–1 win over the number 1 seed.
Morgan Hunter and Genevieve Lang also competed in the B section of the tournament, where Genevieve finished in 4th place and Morgan in 11th place. We are extremely proud of all their achievements.
Furthermore, the following learners have been selected to represent Western Province at the upcoming Inter-Provincial Tournaments, taking place from 28 June to 2 July:
- Genevieve Lang (Grade 8): Selected for the U14A team and will be competing in Johannesburg.
- Leila King (Grade 9) and Emma Hilton (Grade 10): Selected for the U16A team and will be competing in Bloemfontein.
- Tara Neville-Smyly (Grade 11): Selected for the U19A team and will be competing in Stellenbosch. In addition, Tara has been recognised as Western Province’s top U19 girls’ player.
We congratulate all our athletes on these outstanding achievements and wish them well for the upcoming tournaments!

WP Hockey Tournaments

U19A Hockey News
For the third year running, the U19A hockey team has qualified for the U19 Rising Challengers’ Cup tournament in Paarl in August 2025. This tournament is based on a ranking system where results from the start of the season are used to measure your national ranking. To be part of this tournament, you need to be part of the top teams in the country, and the hard work of the team has paid off in earning them this invitation. The tournament ensures that the Rustenburg U19A team will complete the season within the top 25 hockey-playing schools in South Africa – a list occupied by 140 schools from around the country.
Self-Defense

Congratulations to Naila Pandit (Grade 10) on achieving an impressive Brown Belt ranking in Krav Maga, awarded under the authority of the Elite Defence Academy International.

Karate

Congratulations to Nina Lubbe (Grade 9) on her selection to represent South Africa at the Goju Kai Karate World Championship taking place in Japan from 7–10 August.
We are incredibly proud of this remarkable achievement and wish her all the best as she prepares to compete on the international stage!
Ballet

Congratulations to Hannah van Rensburg (Grade 11) who has been selected to dance at the Royal National Ballet in London from 13-28 July. Well done Hannah!
