Netball

Tough matches against Springfield Convent

On the afternoon of April 24th, our netball teams hosted Springfield Convent for a series of matches across the U14 to U17 age groups. Unfortunately, the U19B team from Springfield had to forfeit, but the U19 game was played on May 5th.

It was a challenging day on the courts, with Springfield Convent proving to be strong opponents across all age groups. The U16A team provided the highlight of the day, securing a well-deserved victory.

While other teams showed great determination and came close to securing wins, with some even managing to achieve draws, several of our sides were ultimately outplayed by a skilled Springfield contingent. Following the matches, coaches have identified areas for improvement, and the teams have been given some homework to focus on during the holiday. This preparation will be crucial as they look ahead to their next matches against Wynberg Girls’ High School.

Cross Country

Our Cross Country runners kicked off their season with impressive performances in two exciting races! The season opened at Pinelands High School on the 16th of April, with our U14-U17 runners tackling a fast, flat 4km course and our U19 runners taking on a 6km course. Many of our runners achieved excellent results, setting a strong tone for the season. Ella Gardner (Grade 9) led the pack with a remarkable 1st place finish in her age group. Eva Van Der Westhuizen and Katelyn Meiring (Grade 8) also secured podium positions, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in their age group.

The runners continued their success at the race on the 23rd of April hosted by Groote Schuur High School. The familiar Rondebosch suburban surroundings provided another flat and fast route, and our team showed significant improvement in their overall placings, a testament to their hard work and training. Phillipa du Toit achieved a podium finish, taking 3rd place in her age group.

Swimming

We are thrilled to share the exceptional achievements of Caitlin Evans (Grade 9), who has made waves at both the junior and senior South African National Swimming Championships this April.

From 9–13 April 2025, Caitlin competed in the SA Senior National Championships in Gqeberha, one of the country’s top open-age swimming events. Her performance was nothing short of outstanding, as she claimed the Gold medal in the 400m Individual Medley, securing her position as the national title holder in this event. In addition, Caitlin showed her versatility by reaching the B Finals in two other races, finishing 1st in the 200m Individual Medley and 7th in the 400m Freestyle, further proving her exceptional skill and consistency.

Later in the month, Caitlin showcased her remarkable talent once again at the SA Junior National Championships in Cape Town, held from 25–29 April. Competing within her age group, Caitlin dominated the pool, bringing home an impressive 8 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals. Off the pool deck, Caitlin’s achievements have also garnered attention. She was interviewed by former Olympian Emma Prinsloo, with the segment airing on DSTV Channel 216 on Sunday, 11 May 2025. In the interview, Cailtin will share a glimpse into her journey and her future aspirations.

We are incredibly proud of Caitlin’s accomplishments and look forward to following her continued success in the pool.
