The University of Cape Town (UCT) held an open day for all prospective students on the 21 April 2018 from 10:00 – 15:00. Numerous lectures were held throughout the upper campus to explain the corresponding courses and encourage high school students to attend UCT.
This open day was a great opportunity for Rustenburg Girls to get a better understanding of what career paths they want to follow and what the next chapter of their lives will look like. Choosing a career can be one of the most daunting decisions to make. Attending this open day, however, allows you to ease the pressure of this decision by giving you an opportunity to explore various career fields and finding out what interests you most.
There were many lectures that explained the selection processes, how you can change courses and how you should choose a course. Lectures were also held to explain in detail the contents of the courses you could choose such as Engineering, Health Sciences, Film and Media Studies, Commerce etc.
It is a great idea to attend at least one open day before entering university so that you are aware of the various career options and the opportunities you are exposed to. It is integral for Rustenburg girls to discover what they want out of university by attending these lectures held at the open day, as Rustenburg, being one of the leading schools in South Africa, gives its students a fantastic advantage in going to and succeeding at university.
