NEWS FLASH: The second round of U14 Netball trials has been postponed to Friday 9 April (14h20-16h30)

Some important dates to diarise:

  • Monday 29 to Friday 9 April – Hockey and Netball trials
  • Tuesday 6 April – all learners will sign up for Social Sports on offer
  • Monday 12 April – Winter Sports programme starts
  • Wednesday 14 April – Squash starts at Kelvin Grove
  • Thursday 22 April – first term sport ends
  • Monday 3 May – Term 2 Winter sports programme resumes

GRADE 8 INTER-HOUSE AFTERNOON

On Friday 26 March after enjoying 6 weeks of the RGHS Summer Sports programme, our new Grade 8s got to display their talent as well as their enthusiasm and love for Rustenburg.

All 5 houses competed in the 3 sporting events:

  1. A Swimming Gala
  2. A Trail run and walk
  3. A round-robin Football tournament

Individual Gala results:

  • U14 Champion – Isabella Webber
  • 2nd place – Micaela Labuschagne
  • 3rd place tie – Nihaal Ahmed and Ashleigh Briers Danks

House results:

  • 1st – Innes (36 points)
  • 2nd – Michiel Vos (32 points)
  • 3rd – Bleby (25 points)
  • 4th – Marchand (22 points)
  • 5th – Cambridge (20 points)

After the gala the runners and walkers headed towards the Sports Pavilion for the start of the 1.2km Trail Run.

Individual Trail run results:

  • 1st – Ally Goulding (4:51)

  • 3rd – Isabella (5:09)
  • 4th – Amy White (5:10)
  • 5th – Tatum Malherbe (5:31)

There were a total of 61 finishers in this event. Every finisher scored a minimum of 1 point for their house.

  • 5th – Bleby (15 points)

The final event of the afternoon was the round robin football tournament

SWIMMING

Four RGHS swimmers participated this past weekend in National Level galas.

Level 2: Ashleigh Briers-Danks (Grade 8)

Level 3: Imani Magotsi (Grade 8); Jenna Renecle (Grade 10); Erin Daffarn (Grade 11)
Hopefully we will get their results soon.

TOUCH RUGBY

A fun match between the Staff and our 1st Squad was enjoyed by all on Thursday 25 March. The staff did win 8-5, even though the learners came back very strong in the second half.

NON-SCHOOL SPORTS:

SAILING

Isabella Keytel (Gr 9) competed in an inter-club optimist boat sailing regatta between Milnerton Aquatic Club and Zeekoevlei Yacht Club. It took place over 2 separate weekends and the 2nd leg was held this past weekend.

Across both regatta’s, Isabella ended in 3rd place overall.

We wish Isabella all the best as she participates this Easter Weekend is the Western Province Sailing Championships.
