MATCH REPORTS: by Andi Bernstein

Friday 18 August – RGHS 1st Team vs Wynberg Girls

Score: 1-0

Goal scorer: Jacqueline Sissons

“In an evenly matched game where both sides had scoring opportunities, RGHS came out winners by a single goal 1-0. We dominated for large parts of the game and only conceded one penalty corner, but struggled to score even though we had many circle entries”.

Saturday 19 August  – RGHS 1st Team vs Rhenish

Score: 1-1

Goal scorer: Jacqueline Sissons

“A game where we started slowly and got better throughout the match. Rhenish scored early in the first chukka from a penalty corner and RGHS replied in the third chukka from a well worked field goal by Jacqueline Sissons. It was a classic Derby Day event where either team could have won, thus a draw was a fair reflection of the match played”.

Monday 21 August – RGHS 1st Team vs Felsted, a visiting school from the U.K.

Score: 2-0

Goal scorers: Francesca Palmieri and Rebecca Byssche

“A game in which RGHS dominated throughout and scored very early from a field goal in the first chukka. We had possession of the ball for large parts of the game but were unable to create penalty corners and goal scoring opportunities, thus only scoring our second goal late in the third chukka. It was a great opportunity to use the U16 players that form part of our touring team and expose them to U18 Hockey”.
