Congratulations to Ellen Hodgkinson (Grade 8) on being selected to represent Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club this past weekend at the Pirates Lifesaving Club, Battery Beach, Durban.
The competition took on a team format. Each team was comprised of 8 members, 4 girls and 4 boys. There were a total of 10 events and competitors were drawn randomly to participate in 3 out of 9 events. The 10th event was the team relay sprints. This made for a very interesting competition as the strong boarders ended up sprinting, the sprinters ended up swimming, and so on. The sea conditions were really tough with real bone crunching waves, along with rip currents to contend with on the swim and board events.
Ellen starred in the beach sprint, in the team and individual event finishing 3rd. Congratulations on your very busy weekend, Ellen.
