Sports News 15 December

As we head off in our own directions for the next 5 weeks I’d like to remind all parents and learners of the online BELIEVE PERFORM platform. It is a Sport Psychology tool with hundreds of topics to advise, encourage and remind us that many of us share the same struggles and queries in life. If you don’t have access to this platform please send an email to scottr@rghs.org.za and I’ll get you signed up immediately.

Below please find a few links to get you familiarized with the Believe Perform platform again. There are a few infographics around Mental Habits with the idea of ways to help you keep maintaining mental fitness while on holiday. There is also an infographic for when you return to school, feeling nervous after so much time away from Rustenburg. There is also an article on ‘sleep’ – reminding you just how important rest and recovery are for you.

We hope you find the above useful.

In order to assist with your planning of extra-mural activities when we do return to school at the end of January, please find the Sports timetable for Term 1.

The link below will take the learners to the sign up App for the various sports that are on offer. It’s never too early to sign up. Sign-Up will close at 12 noon on Friday 29 January.

Individual Achievements:

Skye Micklethwaite (Grade 8)
Skye is busy as always. She participated in a Netball tournament recently, and her team played exceptionally well, and although there were no scores taken, they convincingly won all their matches and enjoyed playing different positions throughout all the games which added to the excitement and made it all the more enjoyable.
Skye is also participating in the Western Cape Aquatics championships which are being held in Malmesbury from the 15-18 December and we wish her all the best.

RGHS COACHES achievements:

Sasha Sivertsen (RGHS 1st Squad Indoor Hockey Coach) has been selected to coach the U16 Seals (A team) at the PSI National Tournament from 20-22 December.

Sahsa was also a member of the WPCC Indoor Team that placed second in the Ladies 1st Indoor League.

Olu Ncukana (RGHS Sports Administrator) will be the Senior umpire at the Junior Schools PSI National Tournament. Olu will also be umpiring at the Senior National Tournament. We congratulate them both on these achievements and wish them both well.

Wishing all our Rustenburg learners and their families a well deserved holiday. Enjoy family time and remember that doing exercise together brings joy and wonderful feeling of well-being. Stay fit and safe out there.
