Dear Music Parents
It is almost unreal to think that this is the last newsletter for Term 1.
Time really does fly, but when I look back on this term, I feel satisfied that the Music Department is a positive and happy environment.
Ms Jan Thorne left on Wednesday for a “sabbatical” to America. She will visit several Music Academies and schools and hopefully bring back some new ideas to our Music Department. The bulk of Ms Thorne’s lessons will be shared internally, with a few pupils being taught by Ms Elizabeth Gaylord. Ms Gaylord will be with us for five months on a part-time basis.
This week, we were very privileged to host Dr Louise Lansdowne who worked with some of our string students. Louise is, affiliated to the University of Birmingham. She does outreach work in South Africa through the medium of music. Her knowledge and expertise was greatly appreciated by the students.

Next term is another very busy term. Please take note of the events in the Term 2 Music Planner.
The Music Department will be part of the school’s Parent-Teacher Interviews from this year. Also, the Picnic Concert on Saturday 22 March will be free of charge. Please bring the whole family.
Have a wonderful holiday! Remember always to whistle a happy tune!
