On Saturday, the 13th of May, the Interact Society hosted our annual Mother-Daughter Tea. It was an incredible success enjoyed by all of the 150 special guests. The morning involved delectable treats, endless cups of tea, exciting goodie bags and top-notch entertainment from Jasmine Minter and the Bishops a capella group, Simply Blue.
The goodie bags, arguably the highlight of the morning, were packed with lovely gifts such as skin-care products, magazines and vouchers from various cafés and nail boutiques. We also handed out a collection of spectacular prizes ranging from Montagu hampers to a Justin Bieber concert ticket.
Sakeenah Kerbelker, a Rustenburg past pupil and member of Interact when the Mother-Daughter Tea was started, was the guest speaker for the morning. She delivered a heart-warming address of her experiences with Operation Smile and her memories of an outreach in Madagascar.
The morning was filled with fun, laughter and love. It was the perfect way to celebrate the special ladies in our lives.
Over R24 800 was made throughout the course of the morning. All of the funds received were donated to the Operation Smile organisation, which provides free surgery to children and adults to repair cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
Thank you so much to all the ladies who showed their support on the day! We hope to see you all again at next year’s Mother-Daughter Tea event.
