The theme of this year’s Grade 9 Land Art project is “positive affirmations”. Learners were tasked with creating art pieces that would positively affect others and change how they perceive themselves.
Art learners had to research affirmations, gratitude and the power of positive thinking. They had to create site-specific installations where their use of material informs the meaning. This ranged from mirrors displaying captions such as “You are the art” to mice hidden around the school showing small quotes of positivity. Some of the artworks are interactive and allow learners to be part of it.
As fellow Rustybugs, we are thoroughly engrossed in every single piece of art so far. Thank you to the Grade 9s for making a difference.
