The ARCO Project is an innovative alliance, established in 2015 between Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Morris Isaacson Centre for Music in Soweto. The project consists of weekly individual instrumental lessons, mentoring and string quartet coaching delivered by a group of current students and recent graduates from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire via video conferencing system, ZOOM.
This year the ARCO project embarked upon its very first whole project exchange between 21 students from Soweto and the Rustenburg Girls’ High School String Ensemble directed by Ms Maria Raynham. They entertained several people with a flash mob, as well as a performance at the V&A Waterfront and RGHS Kemp Hall on 29 and 30 September.
A big thank you to all the RGHS parents who hosted the students from Soweto, as well as Ms Raynham for initiating and running with this project.
