Visual Arts and Design
Through the art and design process we encourage the development of art- making skills and self inquiry, and celebrate creative authenticity. We challenge learners to explore their role in society by expressing observations of social norms, value systems and cultural practices.
Grade 8 and 9 Art (Arts & Culture Specialised Learning Pathway)
Learners are exposed to traditional approaches and new perspectives in drawing, painting, 3-dimensional work, design work, photography, visual literacy and history of art. This forms the ground work for later grades, but also broadens them as individuals should they not continue with Visual Arts or Design.
Grade 10, 11, 12 Visual Arts,Visual Arts Photography and Design
- If learners would like to do two Art subjects they may do Design and Visual Arts or Visual Arts Photography, but are encouraged to take heed of the heavy practical component and time commitment that will demand.
- Both subjects have a theoretical component which is assessed in the form of research tasks, essays, exams, tests and presentations.
- Learners exhibit their practical work throughout the year, culminating in a final exhibition in Grades 10, 11 and 12.
