The School Song
The school song was written by Miss Winifred Andersen, vice-principal at RGHS from 1903-1910, the music by Dr Barrow Dowling (1910).
On the slopes of Table Mountain,
'neath the shade of Devil's Peak
In the old Cape Governer's garden,
By the Liesbeek's winding creek,
Near the fields of Arum lilies
And the hedge of azure blue;
With the golden sunshine round us,
We learn twice one are two!In the old Cape Governer's garden
'neath the oaks of Van der Stel,
With its white stoep on the highway,
Let Rustenburg excel! There's many a good old comrade
Who has won for us glory and fame,
Who has headed the lists with honour,
And we mean to do the same,
So here's to the powers among us,
And here's to the classrooms cool,
Hoo-rah for the past and present,
Hoo-rah for our famous school! In the old Cape Governer's garden
'neath the oaks of Van der Stel,
With its white stoep on the highway,
Let Rustenburg excel! In the old Cape Governer's garden
'neath the oaks of Van der Stel,
With its white stoep on the highway,
Let Rustenburg excel!
