Rustenburg Girls’ High School will celebrate the season of Christmas in their 69th Carol Service on Tuesday 6 December starting at 7 pm in the Kemp Hall. Over 400 girls will be involved in the singing of the Class carols in each Grade, which will include the two-part arrangement of `Silent Night’ traditionally sung by the Grade 11s each year, and a beautiful new Carol `God Bless Us Everyone’ from Disney’s A Christmas Carol to be sung by the Grade 8s.

Next term all Grade 9 learners will have to complete the Western Cape Education Department’s diagnostic (systemic) tests in ENGLISH and MATHMATICS. We have been notified that testing for our Grade 9 learners will take place on FRIDAY 14 OCTOBER.
ALL LEARNERS are expected to be present in order to be tested on this day.

Formal Notice is hereby given that the 2012 budget for Rustenburg High School for Girls will be presented at a meeting to be held in the Thompson Hall on Tuesday, 11 October 2011. On the same occasion, a by-election of a parent of a learner as a member of the School's Governing Body will be held. The By-election will be held from 6pm and the budget presentation will be at 7pm.
School will begin with a Day 6 (Week 2) on Monday, 10 October.

We invite members of 1st teams, WP and SA sports reps and special award recipients (trophy and certificate winners) to a Sports Awards evening in the Thompson Hall. Cost is R80 and payment is due by Monday 12 September to the Sports Office. Attendance is by invitation only, and regrettably there is no space for parents to be included.
Rustenburg’s award-winning production, “Who’s your Daddy?” (Best Overall Production at the 2011 National Girls Schools’ Festival in the Eastern Cape) will be staged on 7 September at 19h00 as part of the Bishops Drama Festival.

Rondebosch Boys’ High School music department combines with RGHS to present a CONCERTO FESTIVAL. This Festival features talented musicians selected from both schools who will play one movement of a Concerto with a small chamber orchestra. They will be conducted by Gerrit de Jager who led the schools choral event, Vivaldi Gloria which was held in the City hall in 2008. The programme consists mainly of Baroque and Classical works with a variety of instrumentalists performing. This uplifting programme will last approximately 90 minutes.
All good wishes to the members of the RGHS Jazz Combo: Gladys Kisela (saxophone), Amy Walton (vocals), Yohan Chun (piano), Nicola Cathcart (bass guitar) and Cheryl Muchapondwa (drumkit) who are performing in the Jazz at the V & A Series at the Waterfront on Sunday 6 March between 17:00-18:00. Interact will be hosting a Mothers’ and Daughters’ Tea, on Saturday 5 March from 10:00 till 12:30. Tickets for the tea can be purchased at R100 each from Ms Botha. All proceeds will be donated to the residents of Huis Luckhoff Old Age Home, who are in great need of financial help.

The Annual RGHS Founders' Day celebration begins with tea at 10:30am followed by the actual service at 11:30am.
We have taken up the option offered to us by the WCED to close the school on 28 and 29 April. As we are required to work in these two days elsewhere, we will be starting the academic year two days earlier i.e. on Monday 17 January (instead of Wednesday 19 January).

Berrocca G, the RGHS Chamber Music group, will be competing in the National Ensemble Competition on 29 and 30 September 2010, at the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch University, Music Conservatoire.
The annual children’s Christmas pudding mix is being held on the 27th and 28th of September. It’s hard work but lots of fun and gives children an opportunity to contribute to the society. It basically involves mixing the pudding mix and getting it ready for selling.

On Monday 20 September Ignition will be hosting a movie night pajama party featuring the movie "Fireproof".
This programme aims to empower all our girls with the skills and confidence to take on leadership roles within the school. The one-day workshop for Grade 8 (Me – Identity and Survival) is designed to include a focus on both personal, team and general leadership development through a series of dynamic indoor and outdoor activities, incorporating both theoretical and practical/ experiential activities.

The annual Bishops Play Festival begins on 27 July. The festival is not only a showcase of Drama at some of Cape Town's top high schools, but is also a fundraising venture as all profits from the venture are donated to Marsh Memorial Homes.

A musical highlight of the third term will be the combined performance of Vivaldi's 'Gloria' at the City Hall by the Choirs and Orchestras of Rustenburg Girls, Rondebosch Boys and SACS High.
The Mothers/Daughters’ tea will now take place on Saturday 01 August from 11:00 — 13:00. It will take the form of a Women’s Fair with stalls and services available. Tea and eats will be provided and there will be a guest speaker to entertain you.

The Music Department’s annual Music Workshop will take place on Wednesday 6th May and will focus on ‘be wise and improvise’ with Nicky Schrire, a well-known Cape Town jazz singer with her accompanist at the piano.
Rustenburg will be represented in 6 different sporting and cultural codes at the upcoming Girls Schools Festival. The festival runs from Thursday 30 April to Sunday 3 May and is being hosted by Pretoria High School for Girls.
Rustenburg will be represented by 2 teams of 4 swimmers at this years Robben Island to Blouberg swim crossing. Gigi Hock will also be participating as a solo swimmer. The swim is due to take place on Saturday 25 April, with the alternative date being Sunday 26 April in the event of really rough sea conditions.
The UCT Mathematics Competition, established in 1977, is an annual event for high schools in the Western Cape, held on the University of Cape Town campus.
Each year, the Grade 11 yeargroup goes away on a Leadership Camp at the "Back 2 Basics" campsite near Grabouw.
