Rustenburg ranked Fifth in South Africa by Sunday Times survey
Rustenburg High School for Girls was proud and delighted to be placed fifth in the country in the recent prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Schools survey. The University of the Witwatersrand’s visiting researcher, Helen Perry, was commissioned by the paper to identify the Top 100 state schools in the country, with a special focus on achievements in Mathematics and Science as well as the very real benefits of single-sex schooling.
When interviewed, the school’s principal Ms Laura Bekker expressed her pride in the achievements of both learners and educators, extending particular praise to the latter for their passion, dedication and hard work, as well as their ability to inspire and direct the learners towards their individual goals.
“Girls in single-sex-schools have higher self-esteem and are more interested in non-traditional subjects such as Mathematics and Science. They are intellectually curious, serious about their studies and achieve more.” (Myra and David Sadker)
