Sporting Achievers

Jessica Ashley Cooper competed at the South African Short Course Swimming Championships held from 6 – 10 August in Pietermaritzburg. Jess won 3 bronze medals – her impressive results are as follows:
50m backstroke 3rd 29.67 bronze medal
100m backstroke 5th 1.02.65
200m backstroke 3rd 2.16.75 bronze medal
50m freestyle 8th 27.40 (semi-final 27.06)
100m freestyle 14th 59.77

Congratulations to Nicola Barrett, who has been included in the South African Schools u18 water polo team. She will represent South Africa in the U18 Tri Nations tournament in New Zealand in December 2010.

Alexandra Fuller recently participated in the Senior national squash interprovincial tournament, called the Jarvis/Kaplan cup interprovincial
which was held in Durban. She was in the WP "A" team and won 4 out of her five
matches. Alexandra was awarded the title of the most promising female player at the tournament. The WP ladies team ended 3rd and WP won best province overall (ladies and men in all sections).

Hockey Trials for 2011 Touring Team
All hockey players are invited to attend the hockey trials for the Girls Festival tour which takes place from 26 – 29 April 2011 to East London. All girls are asked to sign up for these trials on the sports notice board.

Dates: Tuesday 31 August and Thursday 2 September 17h00 – 18h30
Venue: Oude Molen astro turf
