Christmas Music at Lunchtime
Rustenburg High School for Girls, Rondebosch is presenting a Concert of Christmas Music in the Lunchhour in St Paul’s Church, Main Road, Rondebosch, on Wednesday 7 December starting at 13:00.
The Chamber Choir will perform Karl Jenkins’ arrangement A Celebration of Christmas comprising six medieval/traditional carols arranged for SSA, piano and recorder. Gluck’s `Dance of the Blessed Spirits’ from Orfeo ed Euridice and J S Bach’s `Esurientes implevit bonis’ from the Magnificat for alto, 2 recorders and continuo will be performed by members of the school’s Baroque Ensemble, Berocca G. Special guest, Shirley Gie (organ) will play the `Wachet auf’ chorale prelude from the Schűbler collection by JS Bach and Arvo Pärt’s Annum per annum. The choir will conclude with `God Bless Us Everyone’, the beautiful new carol written by Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri for Disney’s recent film A Christmas Carol.
