Berroca G to compete in the National Ensemble Competition

Berrocca G, the RGHS Chamber Music group, will be competing in the National Ensemble Competition on 29 and 30 September 2010, at the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch University, Music Conservatoire.

Berocca G (named after Berocca C, the vitamin booster, with Berocca here, representing Baroque music and G, performed by Girls from Rustenburg) has been in existence for the past seven years at Rustenburg High School for Girls. It succeeded a very successful String Quartet, which competed regularly in the National Ensemble Competition, organised then by Bloemhof Meisies Skool. Berocca G provides Chamber Music opportunities for a variety of advanced instrumentalists and singers at the school, focussing on the performance of mainly repertoire from the Baroque Period, but not exclusively. A notable achievement in their musical repertoire includes J S Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no 4 in G major, which they performed at the National Ensemble Competition in 2009.
