Grade 11 French, German and History classes experience the Holocaust

This year’s visit to the Holocaust Centre provided the Grade 11s with the opportunity not only to explore the injustices of the Holocaust but also to witness the resistance of one of Cape Town’s last three Holocaust survivors, Miriam Lichterman. “It’s hard to believe that she’s 94!” was the comment that trended after her moving tale of persecution, concentration and near extermination.

There is no doubt that the Grade 11s will have sufficient inspiration from the museum exhibits and the testimony of Miriam Lichterman to add to the information obtained from their lessons in the classroom. We look forward to the poems, songs and works of art that they will produce for next year’s White Rose competition to pay tribute to those who resisted the injustice of the Nazi Party’s racial policies.
